CRIS thanks volunteers for success of CRIS-CAT

Letter to the editor

— To the editor:

Community Resources for Independent Seniors would like to sincerely thank the over 40 volunteers in the community who have driven for CRIS-CAT (Community Area Transportation) over this past year.

CRIS-CAT is managed by CRIS Board member Steve Burrell with Bill Brady assisting when needed. Jon Davidson has developed a program to assist with organizing volunteer drivers and riders.

CRIS-CAT has given over 400 rides to area residents to doctor’s appointments, hairdressing appointments, shopping and social events. Our wonderful volunteers offer their time to make sure our residents are able to attend appointments and social events.

This helps maintain health and social connections essential to helping people stay in the area for as long as possible.

Some people who have been riders have had temporary situations that have made it impossible for them to drive, such as a shoulder or leg injury or disabled car. When they are able to drive again, they have become volunteers because they realize how valuable the service was when they needed it.

CRIS-CAT volunteers have been shining examples of the spirit of giving throughout the year and CRIS sincerely thanks them for sharing their time and giving service to others.
