Perkins-Carpenter to speak at CRIS workshop

— Community Resources for Independent Seniors will host Dr. Betty Perkins-Carpenter as the next workshop presenter at 10 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 7, at 101 Nelson St. in Cazenovia.

Perkins-Carpenter will present “A Fun and Unique Approach to Preventing Falls.” She is a former Olympic Diving coach and the author of two best selling books “How to Prevent Falls” and “The Fun of Fitness.”

She will lead those in attendance through her “Six Step Balance System” which is a practical application of fall prevention techniques that we can incorporate into our daily lives. These activities motivate participants and are fun to do. They are designed to reduce not only falls, but the fear of falling.

Preventing falls and reducing serious injuries has since been recognized as a generational issue. This is a fresh new way to think about balance, strength and fall prevention for people of all ages.

This workshop is free and open to residents of Cazenovia, Nelson and Fenner. Contact 655-5743 or 447-7625 to register for the workshop.

If transportation is needed, please call CRIS-CAT at 655-0612, a minimum of two days before the workshop.
