Dylan Muller of the Cazenovia Boys Indoor Track team soars over the pole vault bar at the State Qualifier Meet. His vault of 13 feet tied the school record and earned him a trip to the state championship.
Dylan Muller, of the Cazenovia Boys Indoor Track team, vaulted his way into the State Championship Meet at the Section III State Qualifier held on Feb. 22.
Muller’s vault of 13 feet was not only a personal best, but equaled a school record established back in the 1999-2000 season. His effort placed him among the top three vaulters in all of Section III, and met the state performance standard, earning him a trip to Cornell University the afternoon of March 3 to compete against the best of the best from across the state.
Muller has been a standout for the boys team throughout the season. He was also ranked in the top 10 in the section in the triple jump and was an integral part of Cazenovia’s successful sprint relays. His speedy performances helped both the 4x200 and 4x400 meter relay teams to capture first place honors at the Section III Championship Meet on Feb. 18 in addition to his individual Class B title in the pole vault.
Muller, senior at Cazenovia High School, hopes to set a new school indoor record at the state meet this weekend before setting his sights on the all-time outdoor mark this spring. He also plans to continue his vaulting career in college.
The boys championship meet will begin at 2 p.m. on Saturday in Cornell’s Barton Hall.
