Cazenovia On Sunday, April 29, students involved in Project CAFÉ’s Friend to Friend mentoring program met at the Cazenovia American Legion Hall to participate in a zumba class.
The Friend to Friend program is a local program which pairs upperclassmen from Cazenovia High School with fourth-grade students from Burton Street Elementary School.
The mentors and their partners participate in many activities together, including art projects, math games and in the case of last weekend, Zumba workouts.
Vira Reith, a local Zumba instructor, along with fellow instructor Patty Trunko, led the group of eager girls with festive music playing in the background.
All in all, the activity was a success and everyone enjoyed themselves while breaking a sweat.
Those interested in trying out Zumba, are encouraged to attend Vira Reith’s weekly classes, from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday nights and from 10:15 to11:15 a.m. Saturday mornings, both at the Legion Hall on Chenango Street. In addition, Reith teaches a class at 9 a.m. on Tuesdays at Cazenovia College.
Lila Seeley is a senior at Cazenovia High School and member of Caz Action and Project CAFÉ. She can be reached through the editor at email@example.com.
