Cazenovia Movies for all ages will be shown in the Cazenovia Public Library Community Room during winter vacation. Two children’s movies hit the big screen with “Frosty’s Winter Wonderland” at 10:15 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 21 and “Balto” at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22.
For adults, “Argo” will be shown at 2 and 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21.
In “Frosty’s Winter Wonderland,” children will find Frosty bent on keeping his famous promise to the kids that he’ll be back again someday. Hearing of a snowstorm in their town, Frosty waddles off but soon finds that he is just as lonely there as he was at the North Pole. The children decide to solve the problem by building Frosty a wife. All seems well with the marriage until it is threatened by a jealous Jack Frost.
A cartoon that kids and their parents will both enjoy, “Frosty’s Winter Wonderland” is rated G and runs for 25 minutes.
“Balto” will also entertain audiences of all ages. When Nome, Alaska, is struck with a diphtheria epidemic in 1925, the town’s doctor sends for more diphtheria antitoxin. When the dog team bringing the antitoxin has an accident, Balto goes to help them out and becomes the lead sled dog that safely brings the antitoxin to Nome.
“Balto,” considered “one of the most amazing animated features of all time,” is rated G and runs for 78 minutes.
Based on the real events to rescue six Americans, “Argo” chronicles the real life-or-death covert operation which unfolded behind the scenes of the Iran hostage crisis.
On Nov. 4, 1979, as the Iranian revolution reaches its boiling point, militants storm the U.S. Embassy in Tehran, taking 52 Americans hostage. But in the midst of the chaos, six Americans manage to slip away and find refuge in the home of the Canadian Ambassador. Knowing it is only a matter of time before the six are found out and likely killed, the Canadian and American governments ask the CIA to intervene. The CIA’s top “exfiltration” specialist, played by Ben Affleck, comes up with a plan.
“A highly entertaining movie,” “Argo” is rated R and runs for 120 minutes.
As always, admission and popcorn are free.
