Madison County Tourism hires executive director

Madison County Tourism, Inc. today announced the appointment of Scott Flaherty as executive director.

Flaherty will be responsible for directing and implementing all marketing and public relations efforts as well as managing the day-to-day operations of the corporation. He will report directly to the president of the board of directors, Joan Johnson.

“We’re very excited to welcome Scott to Madison County,” said Johnson. “Given his strong track record in the tourism and legislative fields, I have full confidence that he will succeed in this new role and help bring even more visitors to the county.”

Flaherty brings a variety of relevant experience to this position, having previously managed media relations at the New York State Assembly and Empire State Development, which oversees the “I Love New York” tourism campaign, in addition to supporting fundraising at Syracuse University.

Flaherty earned a master’s degree in communication from the State University of New York at Albany and a bachelor’s degree in political science from St. Bonaventure University.
