Cazenovia-area scouts arrange donated food from the 2012 food drive.
Cazenovia Boy Scouts, Webelos, and Cub Scouts in the Cazenovia area will be participating in “Scouting for Food,” the first two weekends of November. The scouts have participated in the food drive “Scouting’s National Good Turn” for the past 19 years. Scouts will distribute collection bags advertising “Scouting for Food” to homes in the village on Sunday afternoon, Nov. 3.
On the afternoon before, Saturday, Nov. 2, the Cub Scouts will distribute collection bags in the rest of the school district. Donations of non-perishable food items and paper goods will be collected beginning at 9 a.m. on Saturday morning, Nov. 9. While all donations are welcome, healthy foods such as canned fruits and vegetables, low salt soups, canned fish or chicken, peanut butter and canned beans are encouraged. Paper goods and cleaning items are also welcome.
Donations should be hung outside the home and easily visible. Donations will be brought to the food pantry at Caz Cares. Scouting for Food not only helps our community but also provides an opportunity for the Scouts to be part of meeting a very real need right in their hometown.
